Is Pokemon Go Tour Johto Ticket Worth Buying? Price and what’s included

Pokemon Go’s next major event will be the Johto Tour, taking place in February 2022, but is it worth buying a ticket? Here’s everything you’ll get for your money.

Following the success of 2020’s Kanto Tour event, Niantic is spotlighting Pokemon Gold and Silver with the Johto Tour, giving players the chance to enjoy an event-exclusive Special Research, a series of collection and themed wild spawns.

Anyone can join the Johto Tour Celebrationsbut trainers will need to purchase a ticket with real money if they want to experience all the features, including the ability to choose between Gold or Silver version-exclusive bonuses.

In order to help you decide whether to buy a ticket or stick with the free features, we’ll go over some of the biggest ticket-exclusive features and whether or not they’re worth the cost below.

Relive your Gold and Silver experiences with the Johto Tour.

Is the Pokemon Go Tour Johto ticket price fair?

This year, the price of a Johto Tour ticket in Pokemon Go is $11.99 (or £9.99 in the UK), the same price as last year’s Kanto Tour ticket.

Although it is twice the cost of Go Fest 2021’s discounted ticket price of $4.99, you still get access to 12 hours of content in a single day for a price similar to a movie ticket, so it’s a bargain for superfans.

For comparison, 2019’s “A Drive To Investigate” event cost $7.99, and only offered players a selection of items and a Genesect encounter. You’ll get a lot more for your money here, which we’ll explore below.

Pokemon Go Tour Johto Ticket: What Does It Include?

The main paid feature of the Johto Tour is the Event Exclusive Special Research, which leads to a guaranteed encounter with the Mythical Pokémon, Celebi. Some Trainers will already have a Celebi in their collection, but this one will get a special move.

Once this operation is complete, you will have access to a second Masterpiece Search Story. This will eventually lead to an encounter with Apex Shadow Ho-Oh and Apex Shadow Lugia, both of which have stronger attacks than their regular versions.

Ticket holders will have the chance to encounter all of the Pokémon native to the Johto region in their Brilliant Variations – some of them for the first time in Go. They will spawn in the wild, hatch from eggs, and be attracted to incense.

You will also have the option to choose between a Gold or Silver experience, just like with the original Johto region games, and there will be up to nine free raid passes available by spinning the Gym Photo Discs. This alone will be worth the cost of the ticket for some Trainers.

So… is it worth buying a Pokemon Go Tour Johto ticket?

If you plan to fully immerse yourself all day, then yes, it is worth buying a ticket for Pokemon Go’s Johto Tour event.

The chance to complete your Shiny Collection, earn free Raid Passes, and get the Apex Shadows is great, and it’s especially beneficial if you buy a ticket early to participate in the January and February Timed Research.

On the other hand, if you’re a casual gamer who’ll probably only play an hour or two, it might be best to stick with the free features. You will still be able to encounter Pokémon from the Johto region, but not as many.

Hope we helped you make a decision! If you’re planning on buying a Johto Tour ticket, be sure to come back closer to the event as we’ll have all the guides you need to prepare.
