The Fighting Irish won the 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title by five games, but Florida State was the only team to win a regular-season series against Notre Dame. FSU has won two of three games at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame head coach Link Jarrett started four years at Florida State before graduating in 1994. Jarrett then spent time as a volunteer coach for FSU before spending 10 years as head coach at UNC-Greensboro (7 years) and Notre Dame (3 years).

Jarrett and FSU head coach Mike Martin, Jr. were teammates in 1993 and 1994.

The Seminoles continued to rise in the polls after winning all six weekend series this year. Last weekend, FSU won the first two games against Duke, including an ACC pitcher of the week performance from Parker Messick.

Messick, of Plant City, Fla., knocked out a career-high 14 batters for the Blue Devil Friday night in FSU’s 4-0 win. Messick was named league pitcher of the week twice this season.

Bryce Hubbart earned his fifth victory Saturday against the Blue Devils, working 7.0 innings and allowing just two solo home runs in Noles’ 7-2 victory.

Four Seminoles are hitting over .300 after Logan Lacey had a season-high three hits on Tuesday against Florida. The senior joins Reese Albert (.391), Jaime Ferrer (.344) and James Tibbs (.320) among FSU’s everyday players reaching .300.

Tibbs and Brett Roberts had a pair of hits Tuesday against the Gators, and Roberts scored two runs and had an RBI in the contest.

Notre Dame enters the weekend on a four-game ACC losing streak after being swept in three games against Louisville and one against Virginia Tech. The final two games of last weekend’s series against the Hokies were canceled due to weather.
