Tony Khan makes no comment on MJF situation at AEW Double Or Nothing
Tony Khan will not talk about MJF.
On Saturday, MJF missed the AEW Double or Nothing fan fest and booked a flight out of Las Vegas, but didn’t end up getting on the plane. MJF showed up at AEW Double or Nothing, losing to Wardlow in the first fight of the night.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on the AEW Double or Nothing post-show, “MJF told us he showed up shortly before his match, left right after, and had a lot. things to think about.”
Asked about MJF’s status within the company and what happened over the weekend, Tony Khan replied: “I’m not going to comment on that. I have a lot of things on the pay-per-view that I can comment on, but I’m not going to comment on that,” during the AEW Double or Nothing media scrum.
Fightful Select released the following report regarding MJF and his contract situation on Sunday:
January 1, 2024 is the expiration date for the MJF AEW contract, according to sources close to MJF himself. MJF originally signed with the company in 2019, but signed an extension that significantly increased his salary from the amount he signed for. However, since then, MJF feels like he’s significantly outperformed even that deal and has expressed frustration with his AEW contract. This led to him and Tony Khan butting heads in early April, leading to much of the drama that unfolded over the weekend.
Fightful Select has more details regarding MJF and AEW, including behind-the-scenes reactions.
